Anna’s Take
It’s sickening watching what Israel is allowed to get away with. They bomb schools, kill UN workers, and children, destroy all infrastructure, and block aid from reaching Palestinians. If you believe Palestinians are human, you're denounced as a terrorist and an anti-Semite. The reason they're allowed to get away with that is because the Western ruling class has decided this is acceptable. Especially America. If Canada and Britain decide it's time to stop supporting Israel, it would hurt, but they would keep doing what they're doing. If America were to decide to stop supporting Israel, everything would end immediately. But America does not. It supports what's going on. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone considering America was built upon the genocide of Indigenous populations, just like Israel. If anything, Israel is merely copying America. As discussed in the last issue, America is the most anti-black country on earth. Black people are not seen as human. At all. What's going on in Palestine doesn't matter because they're black and therefore, not human. You can't genocide what's not human. That's how America sees it. Unfortunately, the American populace including the so-called left agrees.
What's going on in Gaza should be the focus. This should be the biggest story and what the election hinges on like it was before Biden dropped out. But, unfortunately, as soon as Kamala became the nominee for the Democrats, all the activism against the genocide disappeared and was replaced with coconuts in social media usernames and brat summer memes. In other words: most on the so-called left never took it that seriously, they only wanted Biden gone to feel some optimism and feel better about throwing people overseas under the bus again.
In the last 30 hours, I have seen two images of beheaded babies in Gaza. Two. No one should ever know what a beheaded baby looks like. During that timeframe, a story came out about two newborns being slaughtered by Israelis while the dad went to get the birth certificate. These and many more will be sacrificed on the altar so Americans can continue to feel comfortable as they go vote for whichever their favorite imperialist party is this November. This is insane. The fact that this is considered normal instead of abhorrent shows how sick America is. The rot is deep. Supporting genocide is just what you do as long as you get to feel comfy. The one and only demand the American people ask for is for an end to imperialism. It is the cause of this genocide and genocide is the greatest evil that can ever be committed. This country does not care. It's vile and sickening that this is normal while protesting against it gets you smeared by politicians and the media, fired from jobs, and kicked out of universities. America is a truly sick country.
