Anna’s Take
Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, an American citizen, was killed by Israel last week. She was peacefully protesting in the West Bank when an Israeli sniper shot her. Snipers don't accidentally kill someone. They have to be actively targeted. That said, both Israel and Biden want you to believe that it wasn't intentional. Israel said this: “The inquiry found that it is highly likely that she was hit indirectly and unintentionally by [Israeli military] fire which was not aimed at her, but aimed at the key instigator of the riot." In other words: "Don't worry, we weren't trying to kill her, we were trying to kill a different peaceful protester" as if that's supposed to make things better. Biden said: "Apparently it was an accident, ricocheted off the ground and just got hit by accident. I'm working that out now."
Biden doesn't care. Israel can kill American civilians with impunity. Nothing will be done, heck, even said. He won't even go through the motions of pretending he cares and condemning Israel. This is how little our ruling class cares about our lives. Committing genocide is more important than protecting American lives. Our ruling class has decided that American lives are so unimportant that they can get killed off just so another foreign country can carry out a genocide thanks to our tax dollars. If a foreign army is allowed to kill Americans with zero repercussions, what makes you think Americans here at home matter?
Our lives are meaningless to the ruling class. Both Republicans and Democrats. Neither care about us nor are they looking out for us. Biden doesn't care about you. Kamala doesn't care about you. Walz doesn't care about you. Trump doesn't care about you. Vance doesn't care about you. No one in Congress cares about you. A genocide carried out because of our tax dollars wouldn't be happening if they were capable of caring about others. Our government would end the flow of money to Israel if they cared even one bit about Americans getting killed by a foreign army. They would spend less on the military and cops and more on healthcare. They wouldn't be joining corporations in busting unions.
Only we, the working class, will ever be capable of caring about each other. Only we can do what's best for us. If we want a government that works for us, that can only happen through mass direct action, which will only happen once unions are strong again. Unionize. If you are unionized, radicalize those around you and support other unionization efforts. Only together by flexing our collective muscle will we be able to have a system in place that values our lives.
